Rajesh:Indian scientists have been very successful in space probes in the last few years. But when will we see their space success helping India turn into the next superpower.

Amitabh Pandey: We are doing in collaboration. there should not be any super power in the world!

joydeep:Dear Mr Pandey, Congratulation to ISRO and the team for the successful completion of Mission Chandrayaan. Could you please put some light on when the project started and major issues faced by ISRO in completing this project? What are the next projects in pipeline? Thanks, Joydeep

Amitabh Pandey: Chandrayyan2 to land Russian Rover. Chandrayaan3 With Chandrayatree!?

Prakash:What is the total budget for realising Chandrayaan- 1 mission?

Amitabh Pandey: Rs. 3,850,000,000 only!

jitender:From what I gather MIP will do scientific exploration of the moon - why is such an exercise needed when there would be data available from other missions of other countries? Is is not an exercise in oneupmanship with China?

Amitabh Pandey: Nothing comes for free! When we will collect original data and share with others the will also share. Exactly this we are doing in this mission. Chandrayaan is having instruments from ESA NASA Sweden Bulgaria Germany and England and five our instrument and we will share data.

anshu:tell me, Sir, what does this mean actually for india? how many countries before us have had their flags on the moon?

Amitabh Pandey: An Apollo mission has taken flags of many countries including ours, but what matters we are doing ourselves. Apart US and Russia, China Japan AND ESA (European Space Agency) has done it and now it is our moment of glory!

anshu:what is the size of the flag?

Amitabh Pandey: It is about five inches in length.

Gopal Das:i want to go to moon after coming back i want to study sola system what should i do for it .which field should i choose please helpi m in 11 std i have taken

Amitabh Pandey: After doing Graduation with Physics, you could opt for Space science in your Post graduation or Going for IIT wit electronics and robotics is good alternative. You know it hard to get selected as astronaut. So you should brace yourself for hard work, but scene is fun if you ask me.

Prakash:Which are the areas of concern which the chandrayaan mission is going to cover?

Amitabh Pandey: Apart from mapping moon in detail its going find future landing site for Chandrayaan2, find about radiation hazard, find water, and to do reccee for our chandrayaatree of the future that could be you!

shubhras:Wow it's will be dream for India will see the Tircolor on the Moon. Sir, at which time the tricolor will be put on the Moon?

Amitabh Pandey: It should land on the Moon by 8:27 pm.

Seema:Hello sir, Can you please elaborate about the Chandrayaan. What exactly are its functions and for how long will it remain in space?

Amitabh Pandey: I have answered the first part in other question it will remain for two years in the moon's orbit.

philip joshua:Sir, Itis a proud moment for all Indians.....Will it be a cloth flag or a Flag painted on a metallic surface and how will it be stick to the moon soil.Tks

Amitabh Pandey: It is flag painted on the All four sides of Moon Impact Probe. Prob is about as big as a 21 inch TV.

Kuntal:What type of propulsion system will Chandrayaan- 1 use? How much prope llant will it carry?

Amitabh Pandey: It is Liquid fuel rocket. It is called LAM Liquid Apogee Motor. I am not absolutely sure, but it has about some 300 kg of fuel an it is sufficient for 2 years of its life.

Mohan Prasad:What will India achieve by this mission. Many other countries have been on moon. Is India not reinventing the wheel?

Amitabh Pandey: No we are not reinventing the wheel. It for the first time Moon will be mapped in the detail. Manned missions were more of the symbolic achievement thous some science was done. Robotic and remote sensing missions can do in two years that thousands of astronaut can not do in hundreds of years. We are going to do lots of original work.

Shan:Sir i wanna to ask u that In wat material satellite is wrapped(yellow colur wrapper) Is is gold or wat and why it is wrapped in it?

Amitabh Pandey: When a space probe is assembled and made ready for launch the gold foil protect it from human contamination. During the launch metallic sheet protects the prob from radiation in outer space around the earth in Van Allen belt.

sunny:Hi, could pls tell me the FOCUS of this project?

Amitabh Pandey: To make detailed map of the moon. It will make a 3D map with the help of camera that can take picture of school bus from 100 Km hight. It have various instrument to discover distribution of different minerals. Brown University has given us A special RADAR to to find Water in Polar regions of the Moon. It has a radiation dose meter mad by Bulgaria to find radiation level on moo. In nutshell it going to provide loads of data to help future mission.

vikram :Hello Sir ! How long will the MIP survive on the moon ? What tests is it going to conduct while it is there ?

Amitabh Pandey: It will take 24 min to crash land on the Moon. It will take Video images, sniff thin atmosphere with mass spectrograph and measure gravitational field with a RADAR.

Kuntal:How close to Moon will Chandrayaan- 1 come while orbiting the Moon?

Amitabh Pandey: 100 KM

amita:Hi - this mission is surely a milestone in Indian space exploration .... will Chandrayaan ever be followed by a manned moon mission ??

Amitabh Pandey: Naturally Indian astronauts are going to land on the moon in future and if you are young you could be one of them. But we have work hard on perfecting our space capabilities. And remember we need thousands of scientists, technicians to work behind the scene. So we should focus on science and technical education. If if you could not land on the moon it could be your creation!

mohit:does india have the wherewithal to spend so much on the moon mission? shouldn't we be concentarting on building infrastructure and education?

Amitabh Pandey: Every penny spent on the science is paid back billions time. Remember discovery of electro magnetism or LESAR, people thought these were useless invention back then!

Amitabh Pandey: We should be proud of our scientists, we have made a new start this our first scientific mission to any other solar system body other ten earth. I hope lots new scientific discoveries will be made by young scientist from the data collected by Chandrayaan1. Again Congratulation to every one!

Amitabh Pandey: It is painted on the Moon impact prob we should hope that it survives rough landing :-) It is not first time, NASA's Apollo mission has taken our flag to the moon, but this time we are doing on our own.
