john:I would like to know we declare that we are superpower in world ,, we have nuclear power and have that much strength in army and arms. What is the benifit of such strength if we cant even protect our citizens and later on do a strong action to the responsible person ???
Sumon K Chakrabarti: Internal security is the key. If we can't do anything to improve our internal security systems, we will keep ourselves open to more attacks from terrorists

Ritesh Gaur:Hi Suman, I think the weakest link here is our present Indian Govt, which does not know exactly to do. They are playing the same old diplomatic game, which they have failed in last 50 years and Pak has won in last 50 years. And again Pak will win and laugh on us. India should hav send very very strong signal to them at very start of this drama but we lost the initiative. And I bet the only option this will be left with at the end will WAR, becoz they hav to deliver before upcoming election. Wat u think Suman?
Sumon K Chakrabarti: I don't think that war is an option. but I completely agree with you that we are a soft nation headed by a bunch of politicans who have always played to the gallery more than concentration on building the nation

Ashish:HI Sumon..This is Ashish Kaul from Jammu My Question is this, Pakistan as we know every one and mostly we the people of jammu & kashmir is directly involved in Terror attacks across the country, then why we ourselves put mediater like USA in between our internal matters. i think with in no time this Topic of Counter Terror will be Erased as of now it has been Month Passed.
Sumon K Chakrabarti: Ashish, I think that this time, the US has played a very constructive role. They have the power and ability to tighten the screws in Pakistan which New Delhi lacks

tejas:hi sumon.i think pakistanis will never accept their involvement no matter whatever evidence india gives to them.i think the present govt doesnt want to lose votes of a particular community and hence they wil not take any military action.i think for this govt votes and power are important than security of the country.what do u say?
Sumon K Chakrabarti: Votebank politics is the bane of our c.ountry. Will it change after 26/11 - i doubt

priyank:I think war is not a solution for this thing, but india is not able 2 create the global pressure...Do u think that restrict pakistan by boycotting it from global community...or that kind of other step can work??
Sumon K Chakrabarti: Indai has created enough global pressure for the world is now beleiving that Pakistan is a terror hub. And the international community has started putting pressure on paksitan

raj:These are the things to be done: 1. Is kasab really a pakistani, where is credible evidence 2. Where is kasab's parents? search & bring them with the help of FBI/ISI/CBI
Sumon K Chakrabarti: As we chat, Pakistan has accepted that kasab is pakistani.

Rajiv:Hello Sumon, first of all what exactly Dossier mean ( i understand some set of evidence ), and why India has not cut the financial and social ties with Pakistan yet? Like the train , bus or water flowing into pak?
Sumon K Chakrabarti: Pakistan has started giving an inch. A big step forward by islamabad to accept that kasab is pakistani. You can't suddenly cut all ties with Pakistan. It has it's own implications. Dossier is indeed a set of evidence presented in a file

Manbir Singh Pabla:HI SUMON ,THE REPORT CAG OF INDIA SAYS 50% of our submarines wont be available in case of war ,and also radars are outdated ,are we really prepared in case war happens
Sumon K Chakrabarti: We don't even have suffiencient artilerry back up. We are not buying big guns for 10 years now because Bofors is the best on offer and we don't want to associate ourselves with Bofors any more

Karthik:Whats the point in arresting people, asking them to handover the terrorists to india, when the whole idealogue of Jihad is still alive. i dont think there is any shortage of people like Masood Azhar, Dawood Ibrahim in this world. If they arrest one, there would be hundreds waiting to fill up the void. And more importantly, do you think person like Dawood will be caught alive? dont you think many of our politicians would want to him to see dead, rather than catching him alive? as many of them would be caught with their pants down, if he starts singing the underworld-politician nexus?
Sumon K Chakrabarti: True. If dawood is handed over alive and he starts singing, it will be embarrasing for many politicians, film starts and businessmen in our country

sumanswarup:it may not sound nice....but i think its high time India should hit at pakistan and should hit them hard..... there is a saying "LAATON KE BHOOT BAATON SE NAHI MAANTA". this is the principle adopted by Israel now and India now without giving any second thought, should follow it.
Sumon K Chakrabarti: Please remember that Israel is dealing with Hamas, a terrorist group. not a country

shailendra:Can't we provide the video of the kasab's confession?
Sumon K Chakrabarti: As I chat with you, the Pak National Security Advisor has told CNN IBN that Kasab is pakistani. they have agreed finally

Pawan Nayak:Peace can be maintained with strength and we must exercise it. Why war is not a solution?
Sumon K Chakrabarti: Bingo. War is not an option because the nuclear button is there in both Islamabad and New Delhi

AKSHAY B JAIN:We really need a superhero now. Everybody including me is thinking of his own ideology. Whoever comes against our ideologies will not be spared. The whole World is getting closer and smaller in a terrorising sense. The person closer to you may be thinking of hurting you before you hurt him. The sense is getting negative. What do you thing Sumon?
Sumon K Chakrabarti: We have to overcome negativism from our life. It's easy to fall prey to negativism, especially in times of recession. We need superheroic efforts from each and every individual to make the society a safer place to live in

qAnand:Hi Sumon, So what do you think is the final option with India, if nothing works out. The way things are going on, it appears that there is no light at the end of this tunnel.
Sumon K Chakrabarti: There is no final option in a diplomatic offensive

SWAMINATHAN:Hi Sumon, Don't you think that India has frustrated Pakistan with no military action till now and by keeping them guessing? It is another matter that Indian leadership is not as strong as Israel in dealing with terror. However the fearful factor worrying the common man in India is the uncertainity of another terror attack.Having been inactive so far , I think the best that India can do to tame Pakistan is to increase their frustration buy withdrawing all political and cultural ties atleast for the timebeing till such time the people of Pakistan see for themselves the isolation from India can cost them. We should boycott Pakistan just as Gandhiji boycotted the British goods and brought about the doom of British empire in India. As an example, We certainly do not wish to see Wasim Akram doing ad for the anti diabetic medicine when the same can be done by an Indian. Boycott Pakistan is my Mantra . What do you say?
Sumon K Chakrabarti: Well, Wasim Akram is a good ambassador from pakistan. You can't seriously be banning an entire country from having relationship with and in India. But yes, boycott can be a short term option, though it will hurt many regions of our own country. So it has to be selective and short term. Please also remember, common pakistanis want peace. They have nothing against India, despite the propaganda machinery working overtime.

Sandipan Dev Roy:Hi Suman ! Pakistan is state of denial . The 1993 Mumbai Blast, Parliament attack & many more has proved Indias internal agencies report the involement of Pakistan sponsered terrorism. Before going into the nitigrity of the dossier the statement of denial has been released. Indias patience may lead to further disaster.
Sumon K Chakrabarti: as i said, Pakistan is ruled by two different sets of people with two varied agendas. It's difficult for them to find a common ground. But in a situation where both the countries are Nuclear states, it's difficult for India to think about other options. The choice is simply - our internal security, like the Americans have shown after 9/11, has to be firewalled

Rajen Chakrabarti:Do you think that diplomatic effort by India will give any fruitful result?
Sumon K Chakrabarti: hard to say. though as i have said, some results are showing. The ISI has been restructured by it's new chief. paksitan's attitude though is very surprising. The Pakistan Foreign Office has called for “constructive” proposals for a new mechanism and a high level visit. There are existing bilateral mechanisms set up at the highest level, such as the Joint Anti Terror Mechanism, which Pakistan’s evasion and denial have made infructuous. It is, therefore, unclear what purpose would be served by yet another mechanism, or by a high level visit, especially if Pakistan continues to maintain this attitude

bijay:How far our Ministers are responsible for this??
Sumon K Chakrabarti: many of them are. Some hardly attend office, some are busy making money as if there is no tomorrow, and some just had no idea what security is all about

satyaki:Instead of nailing pakistan I think we need to look into our own internal security first, Let us nail each and every one of the terrorist who crosses over to create trouble. For that you need efficient police/intel agencies. Once the terror conviction rate improves I think their motivation to attack india will be quickly evoprate. What we need is action, a good PM who is not afraid to act tough against the terrorist. Finally it will all boils down to which person/party you vote to power. It is all in our hands. To change the situation please go out and vote for the right people.
Sumon K Chakrabarti: What we need is possibly sack each and every politician along with each and every bureaucrat who have not taken action on intelligence reports. Our internal security is in a mess. Now we are forming yet another agency - the National Investigation Agency which will have no dedicated force to act on intelligence information the agency can generate. It will again give some employement opportunities to some more IPS officers

superuser:Why are they delaying and striking off every evidence? There should be a open meeting between pak and in offcials in the presence of other country officials..
Sumon K Chakrabarti: I think that can be the next step. Where India can call a meeting of several countries along with pakistan on the Mumbai attack

vishal:It is almost impossible for anyone to prove that someone belongs to some particular country unless that country itself accepts him. Everything passport, weapons, daily products, transcripts can be said as fabricated. We just rely on DNA + phone call records....... I dont know how phone call records accross countries are logged..... DNA is also tricky u have to get the parents DNA to match that also depends on pakistans willingness to accept.... So conclusion is that no matter whatever we give they can prove it to be fabricated. There is no point in doing all this diplomatic bulls**t
Sumon K Chakrabarti: In Less than 24 hours later, the Pakistan Foreign Office has chosen to reject this evidence. How can this rejection be credible or be based on a real examination and investigation of the evidence? This seems clearly to be a political rejection without any basis. DNA cannot be fabricated.

sampriti:the terror dossier is fine. But can you explain why was China brought in? and even when the dossier was given to them, why isn't china doign putting any pressure on Pak?
Sumon K Chakrabarti: China was brought in because they are one of Pakistan closest allies. And this is evidence that nobody in the right sense can reject. It's a subtle diplomatic war

Rajat:What are India's options if Pakistan rejects the dossier?
Sumon K Chakrabarti: Well, build up constant diplomatic pressure and ask the international community to put simultaneous pressure

subhash:hi sumon i just have one simple question why was kasab's letter in hindi? it could not have been hand written by himself could it?
Sumon K Chakrabarti: Kasab's letter is in hindi because he did not write it. He has just signed it. He was asked to dictate a letter, he did that in urdu. It was translated in Hindi. he is such a prized catch that investigators did not want to give him a pen for a long time fearing that he might try to something funny

Avishek Das:Hi Sumon, Does India really think that Pakistan is going to act, or are they just hoping against hope. Dont you think that Pakistan is choosing to turn a blind eye on the evidence given and hence we are quite helpless?
Sumon K Chakrabarti: Yes, You are right. But there is a slight glimmer of hope that pressure on Pakistan is working. At least on a diplomatic level. Under American pressure, New ISI chief Lt General Ahmed Shuja Pasha have flushed out top and mid-level hard-liners associated with the agency's past murky past dealings with terrorist organizations. Two deputies under General Pasha's predecessor, Lt Gen Nadim Taj, were removed and dozens of other lower-level officials sacked. The agency's political cell, which monitored the country's own politicians and parties and helped make it a political kingmaker, has been closed, its operatives dispersed through the agency.

Maneesh Tiwari:Giving evidence to Pakistan for 26/11 attack is like informing them their mistake done in this attack and not to repeat this blunder in next one
Sumon K Chakrabarti: No. We are living in an age of terror. Which has affected the whole world. This is the time to build up diplomatic pressure. Pakistan knows our capabilities to tap their phones. So, this was the time to let the world and the US know that how Pakistan is a home to terror

prahladh:Even if we give enough evidence Pak is gonna reject involvement of the kingpin ISI and deny existence of Masood and their followers in Pak. Its simple for them. They are used to it. Instead we should put our intelligence agencies to work, figure out the terror camps, hideouts and give them over to US for bombing them out using predators.
Sumon K Chakrabarti: Well, that needs political will. A section of the security establishement is in favour of Covert operation. But since I K Gujaral had stopped covert ops in 1997, there is hardly any political determination to do so

lavakumar:Yes for a layman it is sufficient evidence, But for a professional it may not be enough. We cannot send a bunch of documents to day and ask Pakistan to act upon it the very next day. Among other things India has sent the DNA sample of the terrorist Kasab who is in custody. It has to be subjected for comparison with the DNA samples of his blood relatives. The process will take its own time. A minimum of one week to ten days. It depends to what extent the Pakistani Investigating Agency is profeesional and to what extent Pakistan intends to cooperate with India.
Sumon K Chakrabarti: True. They have given DNA sample of the 9 dead terrorists also. Point is the whole world has started believing that Pakistan is guilty. the onus now is on them to prove otherwise And it's not actually a layman's evidence. It's evidence that can be corroborated in the court of law

john:it is enough if country is not pakistan , How can Indian politician think that a terrorist country will take step because of terror dossier ?
Sumon K Chakrabarti: Very true. It's difficult for a civilian government in Pakistan to act against terrorists who are seemingly in control of the ISI. It seems that the ISI and the Army calls the shots and zaradari's hands are tied

PS Girish:I think we should look for more solid evidences, something that can make them speechless. Right now our evidences give them an opportunity for a tit for tat statements. Our evidences should force them into accepting the truth and disclose their true identity to the international community.
Sumon K Chakrabarti: No it's not. We have ingredients which actually nail the fact that the attack on Mumbai was planned in pakistan and the attackers came from paksitan. the 69 page dossier includes tapped conversation on satellite phones, internet phones, mobile phones along with articles which were used by the Terrorists. All had Made in Pakistan labels

vishwajith h n :i feel it is enough. But pakistan is not in a position to accept this because of their internal problem.terrorists are there in all most every where in pakistan.this is not good for india and the world. They should hand over the suspected person without a second thought.
Sumon K Chakrabarti: The problem is that there is a Pakistan within a Pakistan. A pakistan which does not come under the control of the civilian government there...a pakistan which actively sponsors terrorism
