The chat is over. Due to time constraints, all questions could not be answered. Thank you for joining.
gautam:You have done a great job in fighting against organisations which promote hate and oppose days like valentine which spread the message of love.I hope your campaign will also raise your voice against similar issues affecting our nation?dont let the spirit go down!!
Nisha Susan: the group is terrific. I hope they will do lots of stuff.

yth:why are u only sending chaddis to muthalik and not to Asiya Andrabi, whose group threatens to throw ACID on women who celebrate v day and don't wear burkhas?? Arent' u being hypocritical by not trageting her also>??
Nisha Susan: We think Asiya Andrabi is terribly wrong! We should have targetted her also! we should have been better organised

Anupam Sharma:hi Thats nice and noble way to start the campaign against an outfit which do not deserve their existance in our society . I won't comment on pub culture as its individual's choice but being an individual one should deeply respect women in any situation.
Nisha Susan: Thanks!

Tannistha:While I agree that symbolism is important in campaigns and I myself signed up for this on on facebook. I am wondering however if this is enough to put an end to this moral policing that seems to be only growing in recent times? Why are we regressing as a society? Why are women still asked for a pound of flesh?
Nisha Susan: Dear Tannistha, It's a long, long fight. It's nice to have company in misery. *grin*

Sridhar:Hi. I understand your frustration against the right wing folks. But honestly the means of protest of your campaign does not make sense either.Should we not be trying to address the problem of trying to get democracy working correctly?
Nisha Susan: Dear Sridhar, No form of protest will appeal to everyone. In the same way that a way of life can appeal to everyone. We must each find one.

Jaideep Singh Gambhir:I have joined the Pink Chaddi Group on Facebook and since joining my friends have started making fun of me .Is it only meant for woman or even men can raise their voices by joining the campaign ??
Nisha Susan: More power to reasonable men like you!

Renjith:Do you think this is a civilized form of protest? Then what is the difference between you and Ram Sena ?
Nisha Susan: We think its super civilised.

gaurav:Its a very good step taken by some courageous lady. Hats off to her.
Nisha Susan: thanks gaurav!

Anish Mathew:Hi Nisha, Now that the Sri Ram sene has called off the protests, what are you going to do with all the collected pink chaddis? Any plans of Auction ?
Nisha Susan: They have all gone (THANK GOD) to the SRS office. They are in the post.

pankaj gupta:Pub-going, Loose and Forward Women. What does loose mean in your groups name
Nisha Susan: It is a silly name adopted to show that the name of the group and the actions of the group can differ. Just as the actions of the Sri Ram Sena and the their name have nothing to do with each other.

Rahul Rathod:Hi Nisha, I agree with you protest and hate the concept of violence of any form against women. But, do you support girls who drink in pubs late night. This may be unsafe for them as well. I understand that it is their right to choose, but we can't let young girls be unsafe. Isn't it?
Nisha Susan: Dear Rahul, The more normal it is for women to do what they want (forget pubs). Think of the thousands of garment factory workers all women in Bangalore who go to work in night shifts. The world should be safe for them as well.

shrill:was this an impromptu reaction to Ram Sene?
Nisha Susan: Impromptu... way tooo impromptu. Wish we were better organised

ranjeeth:Most middle class women scoff at your idea of adopting underwear as a symbol of protest. Do you really think its a nice Idea? Dont you think it would only infuriate the right-leaning liberals and add strength to the arguments of the extreme right?
Nisha Susan: Go on the group and meet the thousands of middle-class women who thought it was funny and rude and sent their chaddis. Old ladies, middle-age ladies, mothers, grand mothers, housewives, professionals. The right-leaning liberals should talk to the 30,000 people in the group.

Zulu:What do you plan to do with the Pink Sarees?
Nisha Susan: If we get them we will wear them. We like sarees and we like pink.

ratna:why is th campaign only for women
Nisha Susan: Dear Ratna, Go on the facebook group and you will see there are tonnes of nice, good-natured men. old and young from every part of the world who have joined in it.

arvind singh dotiyal:Why did you choose pink chaddi?? Why not a pink rose??
Nisha Susan: We appreciate the people who sent roses, cards... all the forms of non-violent protest. We chose chaddi because it is a word that everyone understands. It is silly. It is a bit rude. It has resonances with the right-winger slang chaddiwala.

Subodh Deshpande:what type of campaign you would have started if instead of mr Mutalik, Ms/mrs xyz would have oppesed to pub culture. just wanted to know whether todays women feels if man opposes a women then he is arthodoc, gender baised or what..in any way modernity means not to listen to any one..just become blind and deaf..
Nisha Susan: Dear Subodh, I see what you mean. There is a fear that political correctness means you have to agree with everything a woman says. You know that women can be as wrong as men. We can all disagree but use our tradition of debate and tolerance. Not violence. It is not in our culture.

shailendra:Hello Mam, Don't you think you are just over doing things here. Whole India condemned the act what Mutalik and there people did in Mangalore pub but i feel its really not the right kind of protest. First thing is that the logo used is generally used by Hindus at holy place and instead of Om sign you have kept a "Pink chaddi". Its not justified. Everyone want to stand with you and fight against such ill mannered attack but i am not sure what kind of war this is ? Second thing now i am not able to figure out much differences in Mutalik and your movement. Sorry for that. Last thing- Don't you think that we are loosing our rich culture in an attempt to grab modernization. I want you to reply in a un-biased manner. The fight is really getting dirty now ?
Nisha Susan: I think what we are losing many things in the process of modernization. One is our sense of tolerance, our respect for diversity, our ability to seek out truth in our selves. I don't really care about valentine's day or pubs or drinking. What we wanted in the group is for Mr Muthalik and other right-wing groups to reclaim that tradition and not commit violence.

sudhakar:Hello Nisha, Nice and innovative idea and all the best for the same. I have one question? Whats your plan after Valentines day.?what is your opinion on todays youth?
Nisha Susan: I think people who have participated in the campaign should introspect and connect. Find ways of tackling the issues that trouble them the most in their own localities.

Dorothy:Nisha you have my support ! I'm a french woman loving democratie !
Nisha Susan: grin. THanks Dorothy!

Hotpars:What are your short-term and long-term expectations from Pink Chaddi Campaign?
Nisha Susan: It seems wierd to think about the long-term expectations of a campaign that is one week old. So let me talk of what we wanted to do. Many of us feel isolated in our unhappiness with right-wing groups of any religion disrupting our way of life. This campaign was aimed to protest the climate of fear being created by right wing groups in Mangalore. And to an extent we have succeeded in creating a dent... giving people a sense of hope. But what would be truly rewarding is for the 30,000 plus people in the campaign to continue to shame political leaders into getting the Mangalore women justice: those of the pub incident, the abducted school girl, the 15 year old who commited suicide two days ago... all in Mangalore
